Cricut Personalised Fillable Bauble: Beginner’s Tutorial

This week’s Cricut DIY tutorial was born out of a family Christmas tradition…I’m not sure why or when this tradition started, but I’d take a guess it was during my teenage years, come Christmas morning we would find that Santa had left my sister, Nanna and me, items of jewellery hanging on the tree.  I guess my teenage years as my parents had a very fixed rule about not allowing pierced ears before the age of thirteen (I think they’d been picturing gruesome playground accidents), anyway, on with the story…

As the years have passed, yes, my teenage years are now somewhat of a distant memory, I started to help Santa out a little with stockings for my parents and a little something on the tree for my Mum (he was very appreciative and awarded me with a ‘Top Elf’ certificate, but don’t ask me to show it to you, it’s made with special magic dust that can only be seen by the certificate owner…very fancy!).

In preparation for Christmas this year, I decided to buy a fillable tree decoration and whipped out my Cricut Maker to personalise it for my Mum with her name and a few snowflakes for added winter feels, taking the ‘tree jewellery’ tradition to the next level (sorry for blowing the surprise Mum, I know you’re probably reading this, but if you could try to forget about it for the next couple of weeks, that would be swell!).

Anyway, long story (not so) short, I was then looking at this personalised bauble and it occurred to me that it would also be perfect as a Christmas-time wedding favour!  You could fill it with fancy chocolates or sugared almonds and leave it on your guests place settings, then they can double up as your name cards too!  And that extra little bit of magic will come around every year as your guests hang them on their Christmas trees at home.  So, here’s a step-by-step tutorial, suitable for all levels, of how to make your own personalised tree decoration / wedding favour.

In case you’re wondering, the second bauble I made to film this video is for my sister’s ‘tree jewellery’…you’re welcome Santa!  …I fully expect to be getting another ‘Top Elf’ award for 2021, I’ll make room on my shelf now!
