I Love You More Than…

Beginner’s Cricut Tutorial: Valentine’s Day Mug

If you know me, you’ll know the way to my heart is through Starbucks, basically anything Starbucks related will do.  It’s just my thing and has been for a solid 18 years now (I just had to do the maths on that and am now slightly freaked out by how I could possibly be old enough for it to have been that long!), so you know you’re in safe waters with this one (P.S. it is also my birthday this week…I’ll just leave that there).

A Starbucks gift card is of course always a strong gifting life choice, but if you’re looking for something a tad more personal that will come with a stack more brownie points, then it’s time to pull out the Cricut! Our, “I love you more than…[x]…maybe” coffee cup design will win the heart of any tea/coffee-lover in your life this Valentine’s/Palentine’s Day.  Now, this is hard for me, but I will commit to writing this, here on my little corner of the internet to be seen for the rest of time…you can use any mug or cup with smooth sides for this tutorial, it does not have to be a Starbucks cup [coughs].  Ok, quickly moving past that…

Today’s Cricut tutorial is suitable for absolute beginners starting out on their Cricut learning curve.  So please fear not if this is you!  We’ve got you!  We’ll take you through step-by-step how to create the design (which of course can be adapted to your wording of choice) in Cricut Design Space, then how to cut and ultimately apply the vinyl to your mug/cup.  You can find the time stamps for each of these sections in the description box under the video over on YouTube.

Here’s what we used:

• Reuseable Cup of choice (…ours is from Starbucks)

Cricut Maker* (other Cricut machines can also be used)

Fine Point Blade (usually included with the Cricut Maker machine)

StandardGrip Mat

Cricut Basic Tool Set

Transfer Tape

Cricut Premium Vinyl, Dark Red* (similar to what we used)

Cricut Premium Vinyl, Tulip (similar to what we used)
