Thinking about what to use in your hair, or what the Bridesmaids should have in their hair on your wedding day can be a tough decision. Do you opt for something sparkly? Or if that doesn’t fit in with the theme of the Big Day, then what about flowers? Then the dilemma is do you use fresh, dried or faux!
We’ve created a really easy tutorial showing you how to make a dried flower hair pin, but this would work just as easily with faux flowers.
Pick your favourite flowers or ones to match your colour scheme and use a single flower like we have, or perhaps use a cluster to personalise your look.
When we got married to our respective partners, the four of us all experienced the same dilemma…we didn’t want to ask our guests for gifts/money, in part, because we were already asking people to travel and incur all the costs associated with that, but tradition, and often expectation, creates an assumption there will be one. There are pros and cons of course to either decision, however for us, it boils down to this; guests usually want to get you something, even if it’s something small as a gesture, they want it to be something you’d want, you’d like and you’ve not already got. SO HELP THEM OUT! You don’t have to advertise in your invitations that you have a gift list, and that’s often when guests feel obliged. Maybe you just tell the people that specifically ask you about it – if they’re asking, they want to know! Or maybe pop it on your Wedding Website or even just tell key people like your parents so that if relatives are asking them for ideas then they’ve got somewhere to direct them.
Top tip: Include a range of pricing so people can pick at the level they are comfortable at and this demonstrates that you have no expectation of them to spend big, they know they can get you something you actually want that isn’t going to sting their credit cards. Everybody wins. Not to mention this avoids duplication, as much as you’re grateful for the thought and appreciative, there’s only so many heart-shaped photo frames any one home can realistically handle!
And don’t forget, gift lists today don’t have to mean registering with John Lewis or Debenhams if that doesn’t float your boat (although it’s still a pretty good boat to get on!). There’s everything from charity donations to virtual honeymoon lists out there. Have a listen to our video for some inspiration.

What says celebration better than popping a cork on something bubbly? This week we’ve been on the Prosecco (we’re over 18, it’s ok!) putting together this cute but sophisticated party favour idea for you. Take a look at our YouTube video to see how to turn our bubbly friends into clever favours for your hen party or wedding guests. They could even be used as ‘welcome’ drinks and made into part of your venue decor. We used minature bottles of Prosecco, but there are lots of drink options available in this size in supermarkets, why not pick your favourite to make it more personal?
Don’t forget the non-drinkers that may be coming and find a classy, non-alcoholic alternative like these drinks we found at Hotel Chocolat.
So, confetti…it’s pretty, it’s fun, you probably want it. Now we’ve established you want the pretty stuff thrown in your direction, this begs the question, “how”? I’m guessing not from a canon, though now I think about it that could be pretty awesome (as long as you’re not standing too close!). This is assuming your venue allows confetti – some don’t, so do check! Also some require you to ensure the confetti you use is bio-degradable; remember, this day might be all about you and your fiance, but we don’t want the environment to have a bad day do we.
There are many creative ways that you can do this part of your day, of course you can stick with the tried and tested ‘grab a handful’ approach, cheap and gets the job done, or even more traditional approach of just assuming people will bring their own. However, if you don’t want to run the risk of only two people remembering to bring any with them, or want to avoid deviant guests that go old-school by throwing rice at you (close your eyes! Ouch!), or even if you’re just particular about your colours, then a hands-on approach may be for you.
Today we’re showing you how to make these cool confetti cones out of old books – an up-cycle win for the environment, look at you go! So pop down to your local charity shop or car boot to get yourself a romance novel.
WARNING: Optional whether you choose to read the novel first, however this DIY will take significantly longer if you do!

Never miss an opportunity to jazz up those summer drinks, be it at your wedding reception, hen party, baby shower or family BBQ. Simple and quick but super pretty. Check out how we did it in this week’s YouTube video.
For our ice cubes we used Violas and Cornflowers (aka Centaurea Cyanus) – be careful to make sure you are using edible flowers and only the edible parts of the plant, you want your party to be remembered for all the right reasons!

Then the lower price point of these Dorothy Perkins dresses may be something you should get excited about.
We tried out six of their eight styles for 2017 (purely because the other two were not available in our size at the time, not because we outright rejected them!). Take a look to see what we thought.

Welcome to our first DIY decor video! Here you see how to make lettering exciting for your Big Day (or special occasion!). In this video we used Sweet William flowers, which can be easily sourced at Supermarkets and Florists.
We chose to demonstrate using an ampersand, you could place this between you & your spouse on the ‘top table’ or ‘sweetheart table’ for example. Alternatively you could spell out your married name, Mr & Mrs or your first initials.
We found that these cut flowers lasted a good couple/few days once assembled – so no need to be manically running around the day before your wedding with a glue gun!!
